Mountain Mayhem 2017

The machine Phil Malt ! 26" aint dead

Cannot believe that it was over a month ago since we competed at the very last 24 hr mountain mayhem , We decided to take a team of 10 this year and the team was :

Team Boss - Paul Daniels
Andy Fualknall
Nick Towers
Chris Gregory
Lee Bradshaw
Ross Marriott
Stu Garner
Phil Malt
Matt Brian
Ben Piringer

This would be the teams first marathon event for a long time so it was decided to go out have fun and lets see what we can do , With a team of all ability and fitness levels it was not going to be easy to get on the podium , But after a good start and through the nigh we was sitting in 3rd spot , But after a few puncture and a couple of off's we dropped off the podium and into 7th which just goes to show you can never tell what will happen in 24 hr's of racing .. It was great to have all the team back together and we had a great atmosphere in our team camp The overall weekend was hot and grueling , The sun was relentless it was so hot , Fluid intake was key on and off the bike .

A great result for us taking into consideration of the night lap issues , A huge thank you to our team sponsors Midland Access Solutions / Blackwood construction for the Van / Griffin Fit for getting the boys into shape

Racing with the family ........

With most of us being dad's and with it being fathers day on the Sunday we decided to bring along the families , With a few of the kids entered into mini mayhem on the Sunday it was going to be a fun weekend , Mini MAS team top supplied by Impsport for all the kids to make them feel apart of the team , We even had a birthday girl , What a way to spend your birthday :)

 Taking you higher
Ben Piringer returned to racing action after a year off the bike , And decided to enter the British Cycling National Championship held at Cannock Chase on the weekend of 22 nd / 23rd July

Ben decided not to enter into his normal sport cat as in his words still is no where near fit so FUN it was . 2 Laps flat out for Ben and with a overall time of 35 minutes 27 seconds Ben took the win with 2nd and 3rd place 3 minutes behind him , Not a bad way to return to racing scene welcome back .

Friday night summer series action , Mark Proudman & Ross Marriott have been in action.
Mark with a string of top 3 results now sits in 2nd place of the championship with his consistent form throughout the year  , Ross has had a good couple of finishes is still coming back to top form after 2 years out the saddle and is currently in 5th overall
Marriott aiming to fly high for 2018

Round 5 of the Friday Night Summer Series was held at Hicks Lodge , over 100 riders signed in to race , The course was not the longest but it was fun , The organizing team using the Hicks lodge trails to full effect made the course exciting to race on .

With Ross Marriott being away on holiday only 3 of the team was racing this round , Mark Proudman who is in great form was heading the team in senior cat , Andy Fualknall racing again on his single speed mtb was in Vets along with team boss Paul Daniels who was competing on his first race for 2 years since breaking his shoulder and collar bone .

Right on time for the start the rain came down , Which tbh wasn't a bad thing , Mark was first off in the senior race and as always settled into a good pace just behind hope Daniel Booth , Mark finished for the second week in 2nd with 5 laps ! Great Result for the team .

Andy Fualknall and Paul set off in the vets cat , it was a slight up hill start not so bad when you have gears but Andy on his single speed who is getting stronger every race set off well and had a solid race coming in 26th place with 5 laps ! a fantastic race for Andy on just one gear !!!

Fualknall

Team boss Paul had to take the race sensibly , His shoulder not 100% right yet it would be foolish to go off fast and end up coming off , This was his first race in 2 years and his time off road since his injury , Paul said "It was always going to be tough my first race back I am not fit and still in some pain but the FNSS was the best way to get back into racing 1 hour of racing with no pressure ,
Paul managed 4 laps and come in 33 place and after 2 years out he was more than happy with now coming last :)  .

Sums our team up to a tee

MAS Marathon racer Chris Gregory took to the rolling hills of Oxfordshire last weekend on the Scott marathon series , Chris completed the 80 k marathon in 4 hours and 12 mins but lost 30 minutes when a follow racer fell and knocked himself out , Chris stayed with the rider to assist until help arrived then carried on with his race another great time from Chris .

Round 4 of the Friday Night Summer series held at Airfield farm Gartree seen MAS team rider Mark Proudman take 2nd in senior behind Renvale team rider Richard Jones , Andy Faulknall in veteren is getting back into racing for 2017 and had a solid ride in 25 , Ross Marriott in under 23's was 7th

Friday Night Summer Series Round 1 Daventry

The longest running mountain bike series kicked off on Friday 5th at Daventry - Borough hill
MAS MTB had 3 riders racing - Mark Proudman - Andy Faulknall - Ross Marriott .

With a long 4 mile course  it was going to be a tough race for everyone for the season opener , Even more tougher for Andy who has not raced for 3 years and decided to make it even tougher on his single speed mountain bike ! Ross also coming back to racing from a year out found it tough going .

Mark had a solid race and came in 4th , With a fully booked season of FNSS Races mark is sure to be at the sharp end of the championship for 2017 and is always one to watch .
